Duarte’s Resonate now Available on iBooks

Duarte, the presentation design company, have released their latest book, Resonate, in iBooks using iBooks Author:

The app enabled our designers to create and convey content not possible on the printed page. Resonate’s original print publication contained references to online multimedia content, but it was a separate experience from reading the book. With the iPad’s ability to to[sic] support interactive applications and multimedia, the reader is able to transition seamlessly between static and multimedia content.

I’m personally happy because I held off buying this book because their design books just scream out to be interactive e-books; print just cannot and does not do them justice.

How much should an e-book cost?

With the kerffule this week over the US Department of Justice’s case against Apple and the large publishing houses, it’s interesting to look at what an e-book should actually cost.

Amazon has been selling e-books at around $9.99, which was a price point that created a lot of traction for the e-book industry and saw it taking a large part of book sales, even increasing the number of books bought per reader per year.

However, since the introduction of the agency price model, facilitated by Apple, the price of e-books has risen. According to several media sources, Amazon was making a loss on the sales.

The End of Paper Five Years Away – how will you react?

Seth Godin has published a post today on the end of paper, suggesting that it is about five years away. With the increasing use of iPads to complement and replace standard computers, it makes sense that paper will be needed less and less. This marks a very exciting development for content creators too, and Godin made this very clear in his introduction:
