Here’s Why Android is Not Winning on Tablets

One additional reason, beyond the UI, hardware, awareness etc why Android s much less successful in the tablet space than on smartphones might be linked to who makes the purchase decision.

When most people buy a new smartphone, they go to their carriers and ask what they can have. The carrier is effectively making the purchase decision as their representative will give the consumer a choice of phones. Unless the consumer asks for an iPhone, they may be presented uniquely with Android smartphones.

On the other hand, when a consumer wants a tablet, they go to an Apple store or Best Buy and ask for an iPad. In the tablet case, the consumer is making the decision, in the smartphone case, it’s the carrier.

When consumers choose, they choose Apple.
